Taut Band Movement

Type of electromechanical mechanism used in analog panel meters to provide precise and accurate measurements of electrical quantities. In a taut band movement, the coil or pointer is suspended by a thin, tensioned band made of a non-magnetic material such as phosphor bronze or beryllium copper. The band is wound in a spiral or helical form and is under constant tension, which keeps the coil or pointer in its central or zero position when no current or voltage is applied.
